More of Quinn and Josh

And also, the gorgeous coat that Dee sent over for Josh. It came in handy for the FREEZING two days we just had in Wellington!

Oh my gosh what a blur..

It's been 8 days.
At least two of those have been the coldest 'summer' days I think I've ever experienced! It's about 12 degrees and raining today in Wellington. Which would be OK, had I been prepared with appropriate clothing. However, I thought "it's SUMMER, what can go wrong?" and thus, equipped with a fleecy hoodie, trotted down south.

HA!

Anyway, it's been fun. I've stayed at my first ever backpackers, bought a raincoat, and started looking for a new home.

Josh went to the airport today to meet his dad, and we then wandered through Te Papa and had tasty Indian food for lunch. They've both since boarded the ferry for the south island, and I've continued wandering the streets - ending up at an internet cafe.

I was very excited because it's got both Skype and webcam, but no-one's online! Oh well.

Otherwise, we've had some great times with my cousins in Palmerston. I took Quinn to the park the other day where she got stung by a "bumble" (bee) and we had to come home for ice before going back for the everlasting Swing (she NEVER gets sick of it!).
Then, she proceeded to repeat the story to me over and over and over...but so earnestly, I just couldn't help but acknowledge her tale.. "Bumble! Face. Hurting. Home. Ice. Park. Duckies. Swing.....Bumble!" etc.

We're getting a cheap car tomorrow, so it will be nice to be mobile again!

I will post some photos when I get back home

Well, we made it

Today's a gorgeous day in Palmerston North. I'm at the library (which, by the way is a really cool building) and thought I'd write a quick entry to say we're still alive.

I haven't got many photos as yet, because I misplaced my camera for a time, and it's been a bit of a blur really!

However, we're settling in and planning our next move.

I'm going to update this a bit later and add more, my time is nearly up so I have to be quick!

Here's some photos of Josh and Quinn (my cousin who is 2).

The Age of the Scarf

So I've rediscovered my penchant for all things crafty is being fulfilled in my task of knitting a Dr. Who scarf for Josh.

So far I've spent probably at least $30-$40 on wool, but have got about all I need for now. Josh begrudgingly accompanied me to the shops so he could pick the colours. There's some really nice acrylic blends, as well as an angora mix which is really soft!

I really thought when I started that it was going to be an insurmountable job...just adding row by row would take forever.

But, much to my pleasure, I'm only about a week in, and it's already starting to look like a scarf!! (see below)

Dr Who Scarf

I looked up some info about knitting Josh his very own Dr Who scarf today.
Apparently there are a lot of superstitions surrounding such an act. Primarily that you will break up if you're not married to the person.
Thousands of stitches await me - I'll just have to remember how to cast on!

At least I've got a bit of time before Kiwi winter sets in.

HeadAche

Some little 'shampoo'* broke into my car today!
Just days before I was due to sell it...*sigh*

In other news, packing progress hasn't been made on my part.

Josh has completed his 'preliminary pack' and ascertained that he can in fact leave with just the two bags he came with. I, however, after resolving to cull my clothing futher, have managed to purchase a new jacket, but not get rid of anything else!

ARGH!

What a mess!

I just want to be on the plane already!

Stage One: Tickets are booked, but we're still at home!

It's official - on 11th December, we'll be going to Brisbane airport at 'stupid'oclock and boarding our flight to Palmerston North.

At this stage, Josh is excited (but rather nonplussed) whereas I'm flipping out over the prospect of selling her stuff and moving to another country without knowing exactly what we're going to do there!

Now there's the clarity of a confirmed date, we're both feeling a lot better about the whole affair.

So, we'll be in Palmerston til after Christmas, then make the move to wonderful Wellington!

Hooray!
